According to Bekibaev, the man passed away on December 17. He spent 12 days in intensive care.
“He had thermal burns covering 98 percent of his body. We placed him in a medically induced coma to alleviate his pain. However, then his blood pressure dropped, followed by burn shock, and he died,” Bekibaev is quoted by Orda.kz.
On December 5, a man visited the regional akimat in Aktau, demanding a meeting with the head of the region. He was informed that the akim does not meet with citizens on Thursdays, and he doused himself with gasoline at the entrance to the akimat and set himself on fire.
The akimat reported that police and akimat staff quickly extinguished the flames and called for an ambulance.
The police announced the initiation of a case under the article “Driving to suicide.”
Blogger from Aktau, Azamat Sarsenbaev writes that the deceased was working on the construction project of the desalination plant in Tokmak, a project managed by Samruk Business Academy. After the contract ended, he insisted on being hired by the construction company, rejecting other job offers, and then went to the akimat, insisting on a meeting with the regional akim, according to the blogger.
The Mangistau publication Lada wrote that the man who self-immolated was allegedly an employee of a staffing company. Employees of this company had sent a video message to the editorial office of this newspaper a month ago addressed to the leadership of the country and region, stating that they had repeatedly reached out to government officials regarding permanent employment, yet received no response.
