In Aktobe, a 37-year-old driver from Belarus was tried for a traffic accident that resulted in 8 fatalities. He fully admitted his guilt, expressed his remorse to the victims, and in his final statement, he mentioned that not a day goes by without him thinking about the incident, reports Diapazon.

On December 19, a specialized court for criminal cases sentenced him to 5 years in a minimum-security penal institution, and the court also revoked his driver's license for 7 years.

The tragic accident occurred on August 7 on the "Samara - Shymkent" highway near the village of Bogetsay in the Khromtau district.

The minivan "Toyota Ipsum" was transporting children from the Aitekebiy district to the Mangistau region for a charity mini-football tournament. A heavy truck collided with the minivan after veering into the oncoming lane. As a result, the driver of the minivan, two adult passengers, and five children lost their lives.

According to the court's ruling, the convicted individual will be required to pay compensation for both material and moral damages to the families of the deceased. The sentence has not yet taken legal effect.
