The Committee for Sports and Physical Culture conducted a comprehensive inventory of the sports infrastructure. A working group of specialists from the regional and city administration assessed the condition of the facilities, requesting building passports and conducting inspections. The results revealed that out of 329 structures, 170 have all the necessary documentation and are in satisfactory condition. Among them are one stadium, five health and fitness complexes, eight swimming pools, and 133 sports halls.
Currently, there are 730 individuals employed in the sports sector of Semey, ranging from school physical education teachers to professional coaches. The city promotes 73 sports, including 30 Olympic disciplines such as boxing, judo, athletics, swimming, fencing, and hockey. The program also includes non-Olympic activities like arm wrestling, kickboxing, chess, karate, and mixed martial arts, as well as national sports such as қазақ күресі, көкпар, and бәйге.

To promote sports and increase accessibility to physical activities, the authorities are actively implementing projects. As part of the free program "Sports for All," people engage in Nordic walking and yoga, attend horseback riding and ZUMBA training sessions, and play chess, volleyball, and асык ату.
Special attention is given to organizing sports events. For instance, around 300 children and teenagers participated in the city's swimming championship, and in anticipation of Independence Day, a tournament among teachers took place. To promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen friendly relations among civil servants, chess and football tournaments were held. In total, more than 350 sports events are planned for 2024, including the health initiative "10,000 Steps to Health" for Nordic walking, children's races Semey Run Kids, and "Bicycle Season 2024."

However, sports in Semey are not just about mass events but also about a system of government support. In the first six months of 2024 alone, the Department of Physical Culture and Sports provided 305 public services, including the awarding of sports ranks and coach categories.
As noted by the city akimat, they set ambitious goals: to promote a healthy lifestyle, improve the quality of sports infrastructure, and create conditions for physical culture activities for all segments of the population.
