As a result of the agreement, Moldovan entrepreneurs have withdrawn their claims on the assets of the National Fund of Kazakhstan. Additionally, the protective measures on the fund's assets located in Sweden have been lifted.
The National Bank emphasized that this settlement will create opportunities for attracting new investment partners, which will enhance the long-term profitability of the National Fund. The terms of the agreement, according to bank representatives, remain confidential.
The dispute with businessmen Anatol and Gabriel Stati lasted for about 15 years. In 1999, the offshore company Tristan Oil Ltd, owned by Anatol Stati, acquired shares in two Kazakhstani oil companies — Tolkynneftegaz and Kazpolmunay. Through these companies, the development of oil and gas fields in the Mangistau region was carried out.
In 2008, Kazakh authorities accused Stati of violating tax legislation, claiming that the companies used pipelines without the necessary licenses, resulting in illegal profits amounting to 140 billion tenge. In 2010, the management of the companies' assets was transferred to a subsidiary of KazMunayGas.
Following this, Anatol and Gabriel Stati initiated a series of lawsuits in international courts, seeking compensation of approximately 500 million dollars.
