The ministry's statement indicated that the striking workers of "Zhezkazgantsvetmet" are violating labor legislation norms.
“On December 17-18 of this year, workers from several mines of the "Zhezkazgantsvetmet" enterprise suspended work demanding a wage increase. These actions by the workers were carried out in violation of the procedure established by labor legislation for submitting demands and their consideration by the employer,” the Ministry of Labor noted.
According to the existing regulations, workers were required to officially submit their demands to the employer, and if the situation could not be resolved, a reconciliation commission should have been activated.
“This procedure for considering workers' demands does not allow for the suspension of the production process. Non-compliance with the established legal procedures leads to disciplinary responsibility,” the agency stated.
To resolve the current situation, the Ministry of Labor urges the parties to conduct reconciliation procedures strictly within the legal framework, under the reconciliation commission, and to resume work.
Recall that in the Ulytau region, miners organized a strike demanding a wage increase first by 30%, and then by 100%.
The company announced that it would add a bonus to the "13th salary" and also offered to choose one of two options for a salary increase starting January 1, 2025: either an 8.5% indexation with an additional four quarterly bonuses of 50 MRP for meeting the production plan (in 2025 this will amount to 196,000 tenge quarterly), or a 15.6% salary indexation.
