During the meeting, Vasilyenko expressed gratitude to Alberti for his contribution to the development of Kazakh-Italian relations. Among the key achievements of the diplomat were the organization of the official visit of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Italy in January of this year, the increase in trade turnover between the countries from 10 to 17 billion dollars since 2021, as well as the opening of the Italian Cultural Center in Almaty and the launch of direct flights between the two countries.
For his efforts, Marco Alberti was awarded a letter of appreciation from the President of Kazakhstan along with the "Barys" badge of honor.
In turn, the Italian ambassador thanked the Kazakh side for their support and expressed hope for further strengthening of cooperation between the countries.
As of the end of 2023, Italy ranks among the leading trade partners of Kazakhstan, accounting for 14.4% of external trade turnover. Since the beginning of 2024, the volume of mutual trade has reached 17.4 billion dollars, of which 16.4 billion is attributed to Kazakh exports.
